Face-to-Face Appointments

Face-to-Face appointments occur in the Writing Center. You can bring papers, essays, cover letters, resumes, presenatations, creative writing, and more to the writing center.

Face-to-Face

0-5 pages, 25-minutes

6-10 pages, 55-minutes

11+ add appointment

For papers over 10 pages, please make a separate appointment for additional page ranges. Also, please avoid making a consecutive two hour block with the same tutor. Leave a break between the first hour and the second, or arrange the second block with another tutor. Just like you, it’s easier for a tutor to look at something with fresh eyes.

11-15 Pages: make an additional ½ hour appointment: this section will be returned by end of day of this appointment. Please be sure to specify the page range to be tutored.

16-20 Pages: make an additional 1 hour appointment: this section will be returned by end of day of this appointment. Please be sure to specify the page range to be tutored.

Papers over 20 pages: We realize some students have papers longer than 20 pages. However, in order to accommodate as many students as possible, please only submit up to 20 pages, which equates to two hours of tutoring on our schedule. If you feel you need support on later sections of your paper, we ask that you wait until the following week to make an additional appointment. Often the feedback you receive on the first 20 pages can be very helpful in noticing patterns you can look for in the rest of your paper. Please use that feedback as a tool, and if necessary, make an additional appointment for a specific page range on a different week.

ARE YOU TAKING AN ONLINE CLASS? THEN ONLINE TUTORING IS JUST FOR YOU!

Note: Online appointments are reserved for students taking online classes.

Guidelines for submitting online papers:

Be sure to upload a Word document only and an assignment sheet by the start time of your appointment. Please avoid uploading a PDF because it prevents us from being able to insert feedback.

If you forget to upload your paper, your appointment will be marked as a no-show and an email sent explaining our submission procedure so you are able to make a new appointment.

If you are submitting your paper in sections over two appointments, please specify in each appointment which page range you want the tutor to provide feedback about.

If you forget to state which section should be tutored, the tutor will start from the beginning and only tutor up to the page range allotted for that time-block.

0-4 Pages: make a ½ hour appointment, returned by end of day on the day of the appointment

0-9 Pages: make a one hour appointment, returned by end of day on the day of the appointment
