After completing my bachelor’s degree and spending a couple of years “finding myself”, I decided that I was interested in community health.  I attended the graduate open house and talked to the director of the Health Sciences and Administration Department about the Master of Science in Health Education (MSHE) program and shared with her my interest in racial health disparities.  She told me about Project EXPORT and I was convinced that the MSHE program was the right program for me.  During my second year of the program, I interned for Project EXPORT and I had the opportunity to work closely with the UM-Flint faculty and staff.  In 2005, the School of Health Professions and Studies was awarded two major grants from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration and was looking to hire several staff members.  I was hired as the Community Outreach Coordinator and have since been promoted to Project Coordinator.
