Spotlight on UM-Flint Staff

Ever Wonder?

Would you like to get to know some of your colleagues better?  Staff Council would like to help by spotlighting one staff member per month.  We will choose a random staff member and ask them to answer some standard questions, such as "The words that best describe me are:" and "It would surprise most people that I:".

Staff Member in the Spotlight

 Name:  Sharon Mittan

Department: Psychology

Birth Place:  Flint, MI

Current Resident of:  Mt. Morris, MI

Favorite Hobbies:  Antique Car restoration, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, and bird watching.

It would surprise most people that I:  Actually climb under the hood and body of my 51 Ford and work to clean and restore it.  I have even done body work and painted my previous car (a 1964 Impala).  Also the fact that I have 30 grandkids and have 2 great grandkids on the way soon.

Sometime in my life, I’d like to: Be able to travel to Australia, Africa, or Hawaii.

I am most proud of:  My grandkids and the heritage my parents and grandparents instilled in me.

If I’ve learned one thing in life, it’s: Nothing is impossible if you believe!

The words that best describe me are:  Workaholic, dedicated, willing to help with most anything (even though others have said "never volunteer"), others say I'm friendly.
