Don Topping started his advertising career in 1970 at D’Arcy Advertising in St. Louis Mo. Fr over 10 years, he worked in strategic advertising planning for the Pontiac and Cadillac Division accounts.
In 1985, Don joined J. Walter Thompson Co. (JWT) in Detroit to work on the Ford Division Account. From 1989 through the late nineties, he headed Ford advertising internationally, working in over 70 countries.
Don then returned to Detroit and became Managing Director of the JWT Detroit office and led the team which created Team Detroit, a WPP joint venture company (recently renamed Global Team Blue or GTB) to handle the global Ford marketing communications business including advertising, direct marketing, digital marketing and Ford website design.
In 2010, Don migrated to California and helped establish another WPP joint venture company, Garage Team Mazda, to handle the global, integrated marketing communications account for Mazda. Don has served the Mazda business in the capacity of Strategic Planning and Analytics director. Don Topping holds a Masters
of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
