Monthly Summary

July 29th - August 4th, 2006

07/31/06  Public Safety responded to the Library regarding a complaint of two suspicious persons. It was determined that both subjects had committed a crime on campus in the past and had been told not to return to campus. One was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was found to be in possession of marijuana.

07/31/06  Public Safety responded to a medical emergency at the William S. White building reference a person experiencing shortness of breath. Transportation to a medical facility was arranged for this person.

08/02/06  Public Safety received a report from a student that a man was begging her for money. Public Safety located the subject and cited him for trespass and disorderly conduct. 

July 22nd - July 28th, 2006

07/24/06  An employee at the Early Childhood Day Care center in the White building reported being assaulted by a 9 year old. The employee had broken up a fight between a 9 year old and an 8 year old. The employee advised he would be seeking medical treatment. The child will be dealt with through administrative action of the Early Childhood Day Care.

07/24/06  Public Safety assisted Flint Police with the apprehension of a subject that was seen damaging a city parking meter. This incident was turned over to the Flint police.

07/24/06  An off duty Fenton Police officer attending classes at UM-Flint observed three young teens acting suspiciously around the vending machines in French Hall. They ran off and he called Public Safety. Upon Public Safety’s arrival, the teens had returned and were caught stealing bottles of carbonated beverages from the machine. They were also in possession of burglary tools. Additional investigation is underway.

07/26/06  A subject was asked to leave the book store after a complaint was received from bookstore employees concerning his behavior. The subject at first agreed to leave and was walking away but then returned. A check of his name revealed outstanding arrest warrants. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and transported to court for arraignment.

07/27/06  A subject was found to be in possession of two library books after he set off the theft alarm as he started to exit the Library. The subject had damaged the books by ripping off the covers and throwing the covers into the restroom. The books were recovered however the suspect was gone upon officer’s arrival to the Library.

July 15th - July 21st, 2006

07/18/06  Public Safety responded to numerous fire alarm activations at the North Bank Center. It was determined the system had been damaged due to lightening.

07/21/06  Public Safety assisted Flint Police with the apprehension of two burglary suspects that broke into the store located at the downtown bus station. The suspects ran from the bus station directly toward a UM-Flint police officer on campus. The suspects were apprehended and were turned over to the Flint police along with stolen property from the store.

July 8th - July 14th, 2006

07/11/06  A previously trespassed person was seen going into a restroom on the second floor of the Theater. The subject locked himself inside before a Public Safety officer arrived. The subject was arrested for trespass.

07/11/06  A newly printed stack of fliers just outside the Music Department was taken and thrown into a nearby garbage can. This incident is under investigation.

07/11/06  A person gained entry into the computer lab in French Hall and stole a camcorder. Two beer cans that were left behind were dusted for finger prints. A finger print was obtained. This incident is under investigation.

07/13/06  A previously trespassed subject was seen entering the Theater. He was located in UCEN watching TV. He was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants.

July 1st - July 7th, 2006

07/02/06  Public Safety assisted Flint Police in investigating an assault in downtown. Public Safety was flagged down by a witness who pointed out the suspect vehicle and a victim. First aid was given to the victim until the arrival of an ambulance. Suspect information was forwarded to Flint police.

07/03/06  A gumball machine in the Theater was tipped over and smashed. This investigation continues.

07/06/06 & 07/07/06  Photos and miscellaneous paperwork from bulletin boards in French Hall and in the Theater were taken down and thrown in nearby garbage cans or into toilets in nearby restrooms by an unknown subject(s).
