Weekly Summary

December 30th, 2006 - January 5th, 2007

1/02/07 DPS received a report of damage to the skywalk from the Thompson Library to the Water Street Ramp. Evidence was collected and will be submitted for further testing. This investigation continues.

1/05/07 A purse accidentally fell out of a car while parked in lot P. The purse contained no cash, but did contain a cell phone and Ipod. A person had reported finding the purse, but would not turn it over to the owner without a reward. This incident is under investigation.

December 23rd - December 29th, 2006

12/27/06               A subject was attempting to jump over a rope barricade in front of the University Center when he fell and injured his ankle. He was transported to Hurley Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

December 16th - December 22nd, 2006

12/17/06               A subject was observed walking out of the Library by a DPS officer when the security scanner was activated. Her book bag contained a book that belonged to the library with part of the security sticker removed. Further investigated involved a confession by the subject. The suspect was released pending further investigation.  

12/19/06               DPS was contacted by the bookstore after a subject attempted to sell back books to them under suspicious circumstances; the subject reported finding the books. A computer check revealed an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the 68th district court for arraignment. This incident remains under investigation.

12/19/06               A wallet was found in the University Pavilion by a vendor. The wallet was turned over to DPS. When the owner retrieved the wallet, it was discovered that money was missing. This investigation continues.

December 9th - December 15th, 2006

12/09/06 A subject previously trespassed from returning to University property was in the Theater  begging for money. Subject was once again cited and escorted off of the property.

12/11/06  A subject previously trespassed was found once again in the Murchie Science Building after the building had been locked down for the night. She was cited for unlawful entry into a building w/o permission and released after the jail refused to accept her due to overcrowding.

12/11/06  Hit and run property damage was reported to a car that had been parked in Lot Q. This investigation continues.

12/14/06  Public Safety officers responded to a heated argument between a student employee and her supervisor. This incident was referred to the department supervisor.

12/14/06  Public Safety responded to the University Pavilion rink in reference to a medical call. On location, officers discovered a subject having a serious nosebleed. First aid was given and EMS was contacted. The victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment. 
 
12/14/06  Public Safety responded to the Univeristy Center in reference to a medical call. The victim reported difficulty breathing and chest pains. EMS was contacted and he was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

December 2nd - December 8th, 2006

12/03/06  A subject was found loitering in the Murchie Science building after it had been locked down for the    night. He was arrested for trespassing. He was told not to return to University property and released.

12/03/06  A car parked in Lot A was entered by an unknown suspect and a cell phone and money was stolen. This incident continues to be under investigation.

12/03/06  A person attempted to steal a Library book but set off the alarm as he tried to exit. The subject was confronted and he returned the book. The book was damaged by the suspect in his attempt to remove what he thought was the alarm sensor. He was arrested for the theft and damage to the book.

12/04/06  A drunk and disorderly subject caused a disturbance in the Urban Health and Wellness Clinic. It was determined that he was on probation for an alcohol related incident. His probation officer was contacted and she requested we transport him to her office. DPS turned him over to the probation officer.

12/05/06  An unattended shoulder bag was stolen from an office in French Hall. The bag with all its contents was found on a bench near an office complex in downtown Flint. The shoulder bag was returned to its owner with everything intact.

12/05/06  A wallet containing money and ID was stolen from an unlocked locker in the Recreation Center. This investigation continues

12/06/06  A subject was found in the Murchie Science Building after it had been locked down. The suspect was arrested and released with a citation for entering a building without permission. 

12/07/06  A Public Safety student employee observed a suspicious person in the Mill Street parking ramp. The suspect ran from officers as they arrived to investigate. After a lengthy foot pursuit through the Flint Cultural area, the suspect was taken into custody. He was found to be a parole absconder with a criminal history of breaking into cars. He also was recently linked to the theft of a purse from a UM-Flint employee’s office in the International Institute. The suspect was lodged in the Genesee County Jail pending a parole violation hearing.
