April 29th - May 5th, 2006
05/01/06 A merchant in the University Pavilion reported an on going problem of someone stealing bottles of juice from their refrigerator. An investigation is underway.
05/01/06 A Flint man reported the theft of property from his unlocked car while parked near the Recreation Center. He suspects his ex-wife who is associated with the University. An investigation continues.
05/03/06 A subject was seen drinking alcohol on the river front sidewalk. Officers contacted him and it was determined he had warrants for his arrest, including a fugitive warrant from the state of Georgia. He was arrested and brought to court to be arraigned on these warrants.
05/03/06 A Recreation Center patron reported the theft of jewelry from her unlocked locker. An investigation continues.
05/04/06 Public Safety assisted a subject having epileptic seizures at the University Pavilion until an ambulance arrived.
05/04/06 Two subject playing basketball at the Recreation Center reported the theft of their cell phones which had been left on top of their book bags nearby. An investigation continues.
05/04/06 Several subjects were removed from the Recreation Center after they gained entrance without paying the entrance fee.
05/04/06 A University employee reported a subject stealing a computer monitor from the Library. The subject became combative when contacted by a Public Safety officer. The officer used pepper spray to subdue the combative subject. No stolen property could be located. An investigation continues.
05/05/06 The Recreation Center reported damage to their scale. A suspect was identified and an officer called the suspect’s parents. Reimbursement was made for the damages caused by their son. This investigation is closed.
05/05/06 Public Safety assisted in a person having an asthma attack near the Theater.
April 22nd - April 28th, 2006
04/27/06 A student reported unauthorized access into her student account. Further investigation is underway.
04/27/06 A faculty member reported the theft of a license plate from her car parked in the Harrison street parking structure. This investigation continues.
04/28/06 Stolen credit cards were recovered in the grass by a grounds crew member. The cards were turned over to Safety. Fingerprints were recovered off of the credit cards and are being analyzed. This investigation continues.
April 15th - April 21st, 2006
04/18/06 A subject was investigated, while sitting on a bench near children playing outside, at the Early Childhood Development Center. Upon investigation, he was observed preparing to smoke a cocaine laced marijuana joint. He was arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana. He also had a felony warrant for possession of cocaine. Public Safety sought and obtained a two count felony warrant for possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to deliver.
04/19/06 A subject was caught on surveillance tape stealing a tool box from an office in the North Bank building. An investigation revealed his identity. The subject was interviewed and he confessed to his involvement in the burglary. Public Safety sought and obtained a felony burglary warrant on the suspect.
04/19/06 An unattended CD player was stolen from a conference room in the University Center. An investigation continues.
04/20/06 The owner of a wallet that was turned in as found property at the Library reported the theft of the cash that was in the wallet. The wallet was last seen between Lot G and French Hall. An Investigation continues.
04/20/06 Public Safety had to assist a student that appeared intoxicated and was in possession of open intoxicants. This matter has been referred to Student Life and the Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Enrollment Management for further action.
April 8th - April 14th, 2006
04/11/06 Public Safety responded to a report of an injury near the riverfront sidewalk behind the William S. White building. The subject fell while walking on the sidewalk causing injury to her knees, arms, and face. First aid provided by DPS.
04/12/06 A report was taken reference the theft of a cell phone from the Theater. The actual theft occurred about two weeks prior. This investigation continues.
04/13/06 Pry marks were seen on an office door in French hall. A professor noted that the printer cable had also been disconnected from his computer. Another door in the office was discovered unlocked. This investigation continues.
04/13/06 A contractor accidentally set off a fire alarm in the Murchie Science Building while cutting metal near a smoke detector. The building was evacuated and checked for any threat of fire. Everything checked okay and re-entry into the building was allowed.
04/14/06 A student angry at not receiving financial aid assaulted a staff member in the University Pavilion. This incident will be reviewed administratively. The staff member refused to prosecute.
April 1st - April 7th, 2006
04/03/06 A subject near the William S. White building was contacted after a complaint was called in that he was begging. He was recognized as a subject that had previously been trespassed from campus. He was cited for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
04/04/06 An instructor reported that a student was discovered to be using a cell phone while taking an exam in the Murchie Science building. This incident will be handled administratively.
04/04/06 A subject near the Recreation Center was contacted after a complaint was called in that he was begging. He was recognized as a subject that had been previously trespassed. He was cited for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
04/04/06 A cell phone was stolen from a student who left the phone on her desk to walk to the front of her class. This incident remains under investigation.
04/05/06 Public Safety assisted a subject who was unconscious in the Williams S. White building. It appeared that the subject was intoxicated.
04/06/06 A car parked in Mill Street parking ramp was broken into. A car stereo was stolen. Finger prints were obtained and this incident remains under investigation.
04/06/06 Students participating in a class discussion became involved in a heated argument disrupting a nearby class. Public Safety responded to investigate. The incident was resolved upon arrival.
04/07/06 A subject found sleeping under the North Bank parking structure was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants. Additional evidence was found and is being analyzed.
