Crime Incidents

November 5th – November 11th, 2005

11/05/05  Theft of cash was caught on surveillance tape at the Recreation Center. The victim reviewed the tape and identified the suspect as one of his friends. The victim confronted the suspect and received ½ of his money back. He also discovered that another person had the other half of his money. The victim refuses to pursue criminal charges.  The suspect described in the incident above filed a false police report claiming he also had property stolen. Charges of filing a false police report will be sought.

11/07/05  Public Safety contacted a suspicious subject attempting to get into a locked office in French Hall. The suspect was arrested, trespassed and released pending further investigation. The suspect’s true identity was obtained the next day using fingerprint impressions obtained by DPS. This investigation continues.

11/08/05  A student’s back pack was briefly left unattended and was reported stolen. The back pack was subsequently found in an adjacent classroom. Nothing was missing.

11/09/05  Computer monitors were reported stolen from the Murchie Science building computer lab. This investigation continues.

11/09/05  Two suspicious persons were seen loitering in French Hall. They were observed trying to get into a locked music equipment room. Both were arrested on outstanding criminal arrest warrants. A crack pipe was found on one of the subjects. He will be charged with possession of cocaine. They were arraigned on their warrants at the district court.

11/09/05  A student left his laptop computer in the care of another student in the University Center. This student could not wait for the laptop owner’s return. This student, in turn, asked two other people to look after it until the owner returned. They also could not wait. The laptop was left unattended and was subsequently stolen. This investigation continues.

11/10/05  A report was made to Public Safety that a student was sexually harassing others and using obscene language. This incident was forwarded to the Office of Student Life for further investigation.

11/10/05  A complaint was made reference a man begging in McKinnon Plaza. He was contacted and identified. He had an open warrant for his arrest and was transported and lodged in the Genesee County jail.
