Office of Research Staff
John Callewaert

As the Director of Research, John’s primary responsibilities include facilitating the initiation of sponsored research, promoting faculty development, coordinating the Office of Research, and supporting the campus Institutional Review Board.
John earned a B.S. from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Prior to joining the University of Michigan – Flint, John was the director of the Institute for Community and Environment at Colby-Sawyer College and an Associate Professor of Social Sciences and Education.
Peggy Roddy

Peggy is responsible for the administration for all University research and creative activities involving sponsored programs. Included in her duties are assistance in proposal development, grant/contract administration for both pre and post award activities, and reviewing proposals to assure adherence to institutional and federal guidelines.
Peggy received her Bachelors Degree in Finance from the Oklahoma State University.
Andre Louis

Andre earned his Bachelors Degree, majoring in Business Administration, minoring in Math and is completing requirements for his Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Sally Conley

Sally Conley serves as support for the Human Subjects Committee (IRB). In her role as Core Support Staff she assists faculty and student researchers with all issues relative to human subjects and applications, serves as intermediary between faculty, students and the IRB as well as assisting in the design and implementation of new systems.
Sally earned her B.B.A. in General Business Management and Accounting and her Master's in Public Administration degree at the University of Michigan – Flint.
Sue Koehler

Sue provides support to Office of Research programs and research administration. She also provides general editing support for faculty and staff grant proposals. Sue has previously worked as an executive secretary at NDB – Genesee Bank in Flint, and with her family’s business in Ann Arbor. She also has had a business as a custom quilt maker and teacher for the past 15 years.
Sue earned her B.A. in English/Writing, with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Michigan - Flint in 2006.
Lola Carter

Lola is responsible for an assortment of clerical responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing files, answering the phone, compiling telephone directories, creating appointment schedules for the statistical consultant, assisting with data entry projects, co-coordinating New Faculty Orientation with the Thompson Center for Learning & Teaching, and assisting with Research and Creative Activity Committee meetings.
Lola earned her B.A. in Social Work, with a minor in Sociology at the University of Michigan-Flint in May 2003. She plans to further her education and professional development.
Joe Kazemi

Joe is a statistical consultant from the Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR) at the University of Michigan. He offers statistical consultation for the Flint campus one day a week on Thursdays.
Joe earned a Masters degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 2007 and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan - Dearborn in 2004.
