Tri-Campus Student Community Engagement Summit

This FREE event is an incredible opportunity to network and collaborate with peers from Flint, Dearborn and Ann Arbor campuses.
Theme: Ascent to Equity: Building Community Through Inclusive Leadership

Time: 10:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
Location: University of Michigan-Dearborn, Fairlane Center
The Summit will be a day long event that brings together students from each campus to share knowledge, goals, and visions of campus and community engagement and explore opportunities for future cross-campus collaboration. Programming will include community speakers, student-led workshops, and space for collaboration and conversation. Bus transportation will be provided from the Flint campus.

Instill a culture of student focused cross-campus collaboration to establish greater community partnering, a sharing of resources, and foster a more inclusive Michigan experience.
Two Fellows from each of the Michigan campuses are helping further the goals of the Michigan Tri-Campus Collaborative while they strengthen their leadership, outreach, project management, and interpersonal skills. The Fellows participate in both individual and group work to plan for the Summit for Engaged Leadership including program development, logistical support, and student recruitment.
Angela Wang is a senior majoring in Health Care Administration and minoring in General Business at the University of Michigan – Flint. Currently, Angela serves as a University of Michigan-Flint Tri-Campus Fellow. She is passionate about achieving health equity, and mental health awareness. Additionally, she serves as the president of Upsilon Phi Delta and works as an office assistant at for Housing and Residential Life. In her free time, Angela enjoys exploring various Michigan landmarks with her fiancé and two-year old son.
Mirna Ishaq is a junior majoring in Human Biology with the intent of going to graduate school to get her masters in Cardiovascular Perfusion to operate the heart lung machine in surgeries. Her involvement on campus began with participating in the Alternative Breaks programs for the past two years and then continuing to become the public relations representative for the Food Recovery Network. She is now a Tri-Campus fellow and is passionate about the environment, community involvement, and social justice. In her free time she enjoys traveling, painting and trying new foods.
Gary Ashley - Gary Ashley earned a B.S. in Communications with a concentration in Human Relations from the University of Michigan-Flint in December 2005. Since then he has been employed at the University of Michigan-Flint and has held a number of positions. He started working in Alumni Relations and then moved to Institutional Advancement; he worked in each department for one year respectively. He is currently working in University Outreach and has a great deal of experience in partnering with departments within the university and organizations outside the university to help revitalize Genesee County. It is his personal mission to help Genesee County be a better place to live, work, play, etc.!
Alicia Gillman - Alicia Gillman earned a B.S. in Health Sciences with a minor in Public Health from the University of Michigan-Flint in December 2014. She is currently continuing her education at the university and is pursuing a doctoral degree in physical therapy. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Alicia was actively involved with Alternative Breaks because of her desire to make a difference in the Flint community. She now continues her work in civic engagement and service-learning as a program assistant in University Outreach. Previously, Alicia has held several positions in Housing and Residential Life as well as conducted research at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Alicia strives to create opportunities for others to continue to learn about and address the needs of the communities in which we live!
