Why study Pre-Law?
Students interested in continuing their education in law school should begin working towards that goal immediately. There isn’t one specific major that will gain your admittance to law school, but many students choose to focus on Political Science.
Why study Pre-Law at the University of Michigan-Flint?
Advising. Our faculty takes their commitment beyond the classroom – they also serve as advisors for their students. This makes sure that students are fulfilling all of the requirements necessary for applying to law school and are completely prepared to take their LSAT exam.
Options. Think you might be interested in corporate law? Major in Business! Think you might be interested in environmental law? Major in Biology! Follow your interests – you always have the option of pursuing Political Science as a minor.
Experience. Get real world experience! The Department of Political Science coordinates an internship program for students looking to gain relevant work experiences and to add an important line to their resume. Internship positions range from local television stations to state government agencies.
Make a Difference. The legal system is an essential part of our country’s existence. Pursuing a law degree will give you the background needed to succeed in your field and make a difference in your community.

Focusing your studies in Pre-Law prepares you to think critically and analytically, to communicate effectively, and to understand and participate in the community in which you live and work.
