What is a gift?
- A gift is grant money given from a corporation or foundation with no return expectations (can be restricted to a particular purpose)
- Projects have no start or end date
What is a sponsorship?
A sponsorship is money given in return for marketing. Some examples of marketing value include sinage, name and logo on all printed materials, name and logo on t-shirts, etc.
What is the difference between a sponsored program and a sponsorship?
A sponsored program requires a performance period, itemized budget, and reporting. There are also a specific set of activities and outcomes agreed upon.
A sponsorship only requires that marketing value is given in return.
What is marketing value?
Advertising or other types of promotion given in return for monetary or in-kind contribution.
What is a Request to Fund?
What is an Intent to Approach for Funding form?
An Intent to Approach for Funding form is filled out when you have an idea for a project, program, or event and have identified interested corporations or foundations.
This form is also to be filled out after submitting a Request to Fund to identify the corporation or foundation you are interested in from the list provided from the CFR office.
What is the difference between a Request to Fund and an Intent to Approach for Funding?
A Request to Fund is filled out if you would like a search performed to find a potential funder. An Intent to Approach is to be filled out if you have identified the funder you would like to approach or when you have had a search performed by the CFR office and need to identify the corporation or foundation that you have chosen from the list.
Why do I need to fill out a separate form for each corporation and foundation that I would like to approach for funding?
When will I hear back from the CFR office after I have submitted my request?
A response from the CFR office will be given in 7-10 business days for a Request to Fund and no later than 2 business days for an Intent to Approach for Funding.
Responses will be sent via email to the contact person listed on the form.
