MAC Program - Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements
Admission into the Master of Arts in Education, MAC program is selective and is determined by the Education Department Graduate Committee. Applications must be submitted before the application deadline; consult the Application for Graduate Admission or www.umflint.edu/graduateprograms for a list of deadlines.
Applicants must meet the following requirements to apply for admission:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- 3.0 or higher undergraduate grade point average
Application Process
To be considered for admission, an applicant must submit the following to the Office of Graduate Programs, 251 Thompson Library, by the application deadline:
- Application for Graduate Admission (apply online or with a paper application)
- Application fee (non-refundable) payable to the University of Michigan-Flint
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Statement of Purpose describing the applicant’s goals for entering the MAC program and how these goals connect to the applicant's views on teaching and learning
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably with at least one from an academic reference and one from an individual familiar with your ability to work with children or families
- MTTC Basic Skills test scores
- Misdemeanor Felony Conviction Form
- International students must submit additional documentation
Application Deadlines
The program has rolling admissions and reviews completed applications each month. To be considered for admission, an applicant must submit all application materials to the Office of Graduate Programs on or before the application deadline.
Application deadlines are as follows:

*You must apply by May 1 to be eligible for scholarships, grants, and research asssistantships.
International students are required to apply earlier than the deadlines posted here. The final deadlines for international students are May 1 for the fall semester, September 1 for the winter semester, and January 1 for the spring term.
