Business Administration (MBA) - Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Admission to the MBA program is open to qualified graduates with a bachelor’s degree in the arts, sciences, engineering, or business administration from an accredited college or university.

Admission is based on criteria that have been shown to predict success in graduate business programs, including prior academic performance, Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) results, and work experience.
 

Application Process

To be considered for admission into the MBA program, prospective students must submit the following to the Office of Graduate Programs, 251 Thompson Library by the application deadline:

  • Application for Graduate Admission (apply online or with a paper application)
  • Application fee (non-refundable) payable to the University of Michigan-Flint
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Official GMAT scores sent directly to the University of Michigan-Flint
  • Statement of Purpose: A one-page, typed response to the following question: “What are your career objectives and how will an MBA contribute to accomplishing these objectives?”
  • Resume, including work experience and extra-curricular activities
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • International students must submit additional documentation

Traditional MBA Program

  • Fall Semester May 1 (early deadline*); August 1 (final deadline)
  • Winter Semester December 1


NetPlus! MBA Program

  • Fall Semester May 1 (early deadline*); August 1 (final deadline)
  • Winter Semester November 1
  • Spring Term February 1
  • Summer Term May 1

 

*You must apply by the early deadline to be eligible for scholarships, grants, and research asssistantships.

International students are required to apply earlier than the deadlines posted here. The final deadlines for international students are May 1 for the fall semester, September 1 for the winter semester, January 1 for the spring term.
