Mission

The Committed to Excellence and Opportunity (CEO) pre-college program contributes to the mission of the Division of Student Affairs by providing middle and high school students with a variety of academic workshops, leadership, and cultural enrichment opportunities. Working as a collaborative community (students, parents, UM-Flint, and additional external and internal stakeholders) to increase college access, retention, and completion, CEO offers transformative experiences to support life-long learning, self-actualization, resiliency, and high levels of achievement.

CEO Parents

  • Parents are required to attend Parent meetings throughout the academic year to stay engaged with CEO programming. Parent meetings are currently scheduled on Mondays from 5:30pm - 7:30pm (dates are provided in the CEO program calendar). Please view the "Current Students" tab to see more details regarding parent meeting schedule.

 

Eligibility for the CEO Program

Students eligible for the CEO program must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

  • First Generation College Student (one or both biological parent(s) did not graduate from college)
  • Low Income
  • Underrepresented Minority (African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, Filipino, Pacific Islander)
  • Attends a school district with low college-going rates

I'm eligible! What should I expect after joining CEO?

Scholars are expected to actively participate in all CEO programs. Active participation consists of the following:

  • Attend 80% of scheduled CEO meetings
  • Participate and complete 80% of CEO academic enrichment assignments
  • Particiapte in SAT Prep Courses 
  • Complete at least 40 service learning hours (10 each academic year)

For the 2019-2020 academic year scholar meetings are currently scheduled bi-weekly on Mondays from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at UM-Flint (Sept.-Dec). Meeting days may be subject to change for the winter semester.
