Originally from Dallas, Texas  Darryl Baird  has a thirty year career as a photographer and educator.    His   initial  education  was  at  the   United  States  Naval  School  of  Photography in Pensacola, FL.   He  has  also  earned  a  Bachelors  of  Fine  Arts  from  Southern  Methodist University in Dallas, studying Broadcast-Film Arts.
He  continued to  work  for twenty  years  as a  commercial  architectural,  advertising,  and editorial photographer in the Dallas  metropolitan area.  His first love, however, was always art, especially photomontage imagery like that of Jerry Uelsmann.
He recently left the commercial field to return to graduate school, earning a Master of Fine  Arts in  Photography at the  University of  North  Texas.   While in  graduate school, he taught and  helped  shape  the  digital  imaging  curriculum  at  Dallas  County's  Richland  College.  His involvement in digital  processes began in  his  commercial work as another way to add value and visual effects to his existing work.   Soon he was convinced by the growing digital technology to convert  wholly  over to  digital photography.   Since then,  his work has  appeared in  numerous publications  and  exhibitions,  like  the  Adobe Photoshop 5.0 CD  Digital  Artists  Studio,  the Photoshop  5.0  WOW!  Book,  and  honorable  mention  in  the  Annual  (now  Bi-annual)  Digital Photography exhibition at Bradley University.
Darryl  is  currently  an  Assistant  Professor of  Art at  the  University of Michigan-Flint  helping to  develop  graphic  design and  photography programs.   He is a  member of  Buckham Gallery in  Flint and  will have  exhibitions in the  coming year at  Mott Community College and Buckham Gallery.
