Biography of Linda M. Hicks
Linda M. Hicks is a Lecturer at University of Michigan - Flint (U of M-Flint) , in the Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics Department (CSESP). She received a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Michigan State University. After teaching science and math classes at McGrath Middle School, Grand Blanc, Michigan, for a couple years, she took time off to have two sons. She resumed her education at the University of Michigan - Flint, where she received a Bachelors of Science in Computer degree. This was during the tremendous growth in the field of computer science, and she was asked to teach a couple computer science classes while she was still a student. She has been a full-time Lecturer in Computer Science since 1982. Ms. Hicks obtained a Masters of Science in Computer and Information Science from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. Ms. Hicks has taught programming courses in the languages: LIST, Fortran, PL/1, Pascal, COBOL, C, C++ and Java. She has taught digital logic, microcomputer architecture, computer organization and assembly language for the IBM 360/370 machines, and for the Intel 8088 family of processors. In 2000 she conceived of, and developed a course in web design, CSC 263. This popular course has been taught regularly since it's inception. Courses in intermediate web design, CSC 293 and web programming CSC/CIS 363, were also developed. Ms. Hicks is a member of the the International Webmasters Association ("IWA") and The HTML Writers Guild (HWG). She is webmaster for the CSESP Department. |
