Don’t wait until graduation to put your knowledge to use – get involved now! Research experience is highly valued by graduate programs and prospective employers and the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) is a great way to hone your skills. UROP is a newly developed program at the University of Michigan–Flint that works to form research partnerships between faculty and students. Students gain valuable research experience and have the opportunity to receive class credit, volunteer hours, work study, or remuneration in some instances.

Our Mission

The mission of the UROP at the University of Michigan–Flint is to enrich the academic experience of undergraduate students while providing valuable assistance to faculty researchers. Additionally, the program is intended to lend support to both the faculty researcher and the student throughout the duration of the project.

Program Goals

  • Promote research opportunities for undergraduate students
  • Develop and facilitate research partnerships between students and faculty researchers in all disciplines
  • Enhance the student’s research skills
  • Foster student learning through effective and informational training workshops and initiatives
  • Ensure that the program is equally beneficial to the student and the faculty member
